I grew up in a house that was falling apart, and I've never forgotten what that does to a family.
Rotted floors. Exposed wiring. Drywall coming off the studs. Some months there was no electricity, some months no water. I was the middle of seven kids, and we ran around in hand-me-downs with no shoes half the time. Nobody was coming to fix any of it, so you learned to.
I was raised up a roofer. I worked for a dairy farmer and a chicken farmer growing up, because that's what there was, and it taught me early that a day's work is a day's work whether anyone is watching or not. Five years in the Marine Corps sharpened that into something I could name — two combat tours, Iraq and Afghanistan, machine gunner and military police, and eventually squad leader. The Corps has a simple standard: prepare properly, do the job right, and answer for the people counting on you.
In October 2019 I put that to work for myself, out of a Toyota Corolla. Today there's a crew and a trailer, and my job has changed — less doing every job myself, more making sure every job is done the way I would do it. I still quote the work, I still answer the phone, and I'm still the one accountable when something needs putting right.
What hasn't changed is why. I know what it's like to live somewhere that's coming apart, and I know most people are one bad stretch away from watching their own place slide. So when we pull up to your house, we're not looking at a square-footage number. We're looking at somebody's home, and we treat it like it matters — because it does.

Preparation is the job
In the Marines, the outcome was decided before anyone moved. Same on a driveway: the grinding, the base repair, the drying time. Prep is invisible in the finished photo and it is the whole difference between a surface that holds and one that fails in a season.

As a squad leader you don't get to blame the guy who did the work — you trained him, so it's on you. Same here. Whoever is on your property, the result is mine, and you have my number after the invoice is paid.

Most home service companies compete by adding services. We went the other way. Pavers, concrete and coatings are what we do now, and narrowing down is what made the work better.

Surface cleaners rather than bare wands. Proper joint sand. Commercial sealers. Specialising means we can justify owning the tools that protect your surface instead of damaging it.
We know what fails here
Florida sun, humidity and summer storms break down surfaces differently than anywhere else. We've seen how each one fails locally, so we spec the job for this climate.

A written price, up front
We measure on site and hand you a number before any work begins. No day-of surprises and no change orders invented halfway through.
An honest assessment
If your pavers don't need the full restoration, we'll say so and price only the stages you need. Selling you work you don't need is how you lose a customer permanently.
We don't cut the sand
Polymeric joint sand is a real materials cost and it's the first thing skipped on a cheap bid. It's also the reason those jobs look hollow a season later.
You can reach us after
Same number, same person, after the invoice is paid. If something isn't right, call and we'll come look at it.

Two people who answer the phone
My wife and I have run PD Home Pros together since 2019. She handles the scheduling, the quotes and the invoicing. I run the work and the crew. When you call, you reach us — there is no queue and no call centre.
We've been married since 2012, and our house is rarely quiet with our son around and a dog and cat who both have opinions about the trailer coming and going. When I'm not working I'm fishing, in the gym, or out in the garage with a vehicle in pieces.
None of that is on here to be charming. It's the reason the standard holds. I want my kid growing up different from how I did, and the way that happens is by doing right by every house we work on. We live in this county, we work for our neighbours, and I run into customers at the store. That doesn't change as we grow — it's why we hire slowly, train properly, and don't overbook the calendar to hit a number.

Is PD Home Pros still owner-operated now that there's a crew?
Yes. Preston still measures and quotes every job himself and is still accountable for the result, whether he's swinging the tool that day or a crew member is. There's no call center hand-off after the sale.
Do you still do handyman work, or just pavers and concrete now?
Surface restoration is the specialty now — pavers, concrete coatings and exterior cleaning. We still take on select home-improvement projects, usually for customers we've already worked with, but that's secondary to the surface work.
