Three finishes, and how to choose
We bring samples and apply them to your own pavers before anything is committed. Photographs never match what a sealer does to your specific stone, and every homeowner who has chosen from a screen has regretted at least one shade.
Wet look is film-forming. It saturates and deepens the color, close to how the pavers look in the rain, with visible sheen. The most dramatic of the three and the most requested for pool decks and entryways.
Semi-gloss enhances the color without full shine. It reads as a well-kept surface rather than a freshly-sealed one, and it hides variation between pavers better than wet look does.
Natural matte is a penetrating sealer. It protects from inside the paver and leaves the surface looking essentially untouched — the choice for travertine, shellstone and traditional looks.

What sealing actually does
The visual change is what sells it, but the structural work is what makes it worth the money. Sealer binds the top of the joint sand so rain stops carrying it away, which is the root cause of pavers shifting and settling.
It also closes the pores of the paver itself. Sunscreen, grill grease, leaf tannin and irrigation rust sit on the surface where they can be rinsed off, rather than soaking into the concrete where they are permanent.

Timing and resealing in Florida
Most Florida installations need resealing every two to three years. Our UV levels, humidity and summer storms break sealer down faster than northern climates do. Beachfront properties in St. Augustine Beach and Ponte Vedra Beach sit at the short end because salt air accelerates it further.
Sealing over a dirty or damp surface traps whatever is underneath and can cause hazing or peeling. We clean first, allow proper drying time, and check moisture before the first coat goes down. Anyone offering to seal the same hour they arrive is skipping something.

How often should pavers be sealed in Florida?
Every two to three years for most installations. Florida sun, humidity and heavy summer rain break sealer down faster than northern climates. Pool decks and beachfront properties in St. Augustine Beach and Ponte Vedra Beach are at the shorter end of that range.
Will sealing make my pool deck slippery?
Not if the right product is used. We add a slip-resistant additive to sealer on any pool deck or wet area as standard, at no extra charge. If you want maximum traction, a natural matte penetrating sealer changes the surface texture very little while still protecting the pavers.
What is the difference between wet look and matte?
Wet look is a film-forming sealer that deepens and saturates the color with a visible sheen, similar to how pavers look in the rain. Matte is a penetrating sealer that protects from within and leaves the natural finish almost unchanged. Wet look is the more dramatic transformation; matte is the more traditional choice.
How long before I can walk or drive on it?
Sealer is typically walkable the same evening and ready for vehicles after 24 to 48 hours, depending on the product and the weather. We will give you exact timings on the day.
Can you seal pavers that have never been sealed?
Yes, and it is very common. We see plenty of original driveways in Nocatee and World Golf Village that have never been touched. If the joint sand has washed out it gets replaced first, but unsealed rarely means unsalvageable.
Can old sealer be removed if I want a different finish?
In most cases yes, though it adds a stripping stage to the job. If you have a glossy sealer and want to move to natural matte, tell us at the estimate so we can price the strip properly rather than surprising you later.
