The driveways and patios here run the full range: hundred-year-old brick and clay pavers in Lincolnville, Fullerwood and the Model Land district, 1950s and 60s concrete and pavers in Davis Shores and Lighthouse Park, and newer travertine and shell stone out on Vilano and North Beach. Salt air off the bayfront and the ocean eats unsealed surfaces, and the water table on the island means settled sections and washed-out joints are normal.
Every one of those surfaces can be cleaned, repaired and sealed; the chemistry and the sealer just have to match the material. Clay brick and old pavers get a gentler clean and a breathable sealer. Yes, and it is one of the most common jobs we see. St. Augustine driveways and patios range from century-old brick in Lincolnville and Fullerwood to mid-century pavers in Davis Shores and new travertine on Vilano, and most have never been properly sealed. They usually need a three-step cleaning, joint sand replacement where it has washed out, and a two-coat Trident Protects sealer. If sections have settled or oak roots have lifted pavers, those are repaired at the base first.
What sealer do you use on St. Augustine pavers?
Trident Protects Hurricane CAT 5, usually the D2 natural-matte formulation, on concrete paver driveways, patios, walkways and pool decks, applied as a two-coat system with joint sand stabilization.
